A month ago, our team at Spark Educational Equity Foundation (SEEF) embarked on a mission to identify schools in Ghana where students face severe educational and resource challenges. Our search led us to The King’s Perseverance Academy, a school tucked in a community where children’s need for support was evident from the moment we arrived.
One student, Ama, shared her excitement about finally having a proper notebook and pen. For her, and many others, this support was more than materials, it was hope, motivation, and the recognition that someone believes in their potential.

Preparation & Discovery
Before the visit, SEEF carried out a thorough assessment of potential schools. We engaged directly with local leaders and the Ghana Education Service to understand which institutions had students most in need. At The King’s Perseverance Academy, teachers shared stories of students struggling to access basic learning materials, and it became clear that a targeted, strategic outreach would have the most impact.
Our team conducted an internal audit, observing classrooms, talking with students, and evaluating the extent of need. The headteacher and staff carefully compiled lists of the most disadvantaged students — ensuring that our support would reach those who truly needed it most. After a week, these lists reached us, confirming our focus for the upcoming outreach.
The Outreach Day
On the day of the visit, the atmosphere was filled with excitement and anticipation. Students gathered in the assembly hall, eager yet shy. Our volunteers split into teams with clear responsibilities:
- Climate & Sustainability Education: Volunteer Ms. Alberta led an interactive session, explaining climate change, its causes and effects, and practical ways students can help protect the environment.
- Health & Hygiene Education: Mr. Kofi Maxwell taught students the importance of personal hygiene, healthy habits, and simple preventative measures to stay well.
- Mentorship & Motivation: Other volunteers encouraged students to dream big, showing them that education is the key to unlocking their potential.
The headteacher, staff, and the assemblyman addressed the students with inspiring speeches, reinforcing the importance of learning, resilience, and community support. Their words resonated deeply, motivating students to see themselves as capable and valued members of society.
Impact & Donations
SEEF provided:
✅ Essential school supplies: books, pens, uniforms
✅ Educational tools to enhance learning in classrooms
✅ Mentorship sessions focused on personal development, climate, and health
The smiles on the students’ faces, the applause after speeches, and the enthusiastic participation in workshops showed the powerful impact of our intervention. It was clear that this outreach was not just a one-time donation but a step toward sustainable educational empowerment.
